Better Health Together Board Member Tom Martin wins 2016 Leaders in Health Care Award

Congratulations to Tom Martin, former CEO and superintendent of Lincoln Hospital, for being selected as the 2016 Leaders in Health Care Awards' Outstanding Health Care Executive Outside the Puget Sound Region!  In addition to serving on the Board of our subsidiary Better Health together, Tom represents Eastern Washington on the Governor's Healthier Washington Initiative's Health Innovators Leadership Network and has been an invaluable partner to EHF over the years.

Better Health Together Awarded $307,000 to Continue Health Plan Enrollment Assistance

Congratulations to our subsidiary Better Health Together on securing a two-year, $307,000 grant to continue their partnership with the Washington State Health Benefit Exchange assisting individuals and families enroll in health insurance through the Washington Health Plan Finder!  Better Health Together's In-Person Assister Network has been one of the most impactful programs that EHF has supported, helping achieve a radical reduction in the uninsured rate in our region.  The In-Person Assister Network successfully enrolled over 84,000 individuals throughout its 14-county region from 2013 to 2014, and Spokane's uninsured rate has dropped from 13% in 2013 to just 5% in 2015.

Program Coordinator Christina Kamkosi selected to Inland Business Catalyst Magazine's Top 20 Under 40!

Congratulations to our very own Christina Kamkosi for being selected to Inland Business Catalyst Magazine's Top 20 Under 40!  Twenty young professionals under the age of 40 were chosen out of 60 nominees for this honor, and we are so proud to announce that Christina made the final list!

A little more about Christina...

Christina is a Program Coordinator for Responsive Grants and Capacity Building Programs. She landed in Spokane July of 2010 from Malawi, in the southeastern part of Africa. Christina has a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from African Bible College and she also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Whitworth University. She first started as a fellow in 2013 before she officially joined the EHF team in October of 2014.  She was recently being selected to Inland Business Catalyst Magazines "Top 20 Under 40," which recognizes young professionals "to be reckoned with" in Eastern Washington. Additionally she is certified as a Qualified Administrator for Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), a tool that assesses intercultural competence. Christina is looking forward to continue partnering with different organizations working to improve the wellbeing of people in our community and region.
