Empire Health Foundation is a new health conversion private foundation, with approximately $123 million in assets under management and stewardship of which $45 million is set aside for philanthropy, working to improve the health of communities in eastern Washington. Because it is the largest private health foundation in the region, it has given the organization a unique opportunity to build a philanthropic organization from the ground up, design and implement a strategic vision for impact, and establish the Foundation as a catalyst and convener in the region.
EHF is an independent, nonprofit grant-making foundation that serves the following seven counties of eastern Washington: Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln, Spokane, Adams and Whitman. Formed as a result of the 2008 sale of Empire Health Services, Empire Health Foundation board and staff are working diligently to act as good stewards of the Foundation's resources for the benefit of our region. A volunteer board of community leaders is responsible for governance of the Foundation, working alongside a dedicated staff to manage and implement the Foundation's objectives.
The Foundation will focus on health in this region, specifically in the areas of access, education, research and public policy.

We invest in ideas and organizations that improve access, education, research and public policy to result in a measurably healthier region.
Our values serve as a compass for our actions and describe how we behave in the world.
We will manage the foundation and its assets with integrity to sustain the long-term funding of our communities and recognize the health care traditions of this region.
We will act with kindness and understanding as a foundational component of all our decisions.
We will actively share ideas, talents and resources and bring together a diverse set of stakeholders, organizations and communities.
We will set priorities based on sound knowledge and support partners that demonstrate measurable results to positively impact our communities.
We will encourage diversity in ideas, geographic reach, policy and partners as we support our region.
